If you missed the opportunity to buy Spain’s Regional Edition La Flor de Cano Mágicos six years ago, you might have another chance. Spanish Habanos distributor Tabacalera S.L.U. has gone into its inventory of aged stock and rereleased a limited quantity of these discontinued Cuban cigars under a program called “Fuera de Serie” which translates to “out of series.”

The La Flor de Cano Mágicos measures 4 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge, sharing its dimensions with the Cohiba Maduro 5 cigar of the same name. Although these short robustos were officially designated as Spain’s 2018 Regional Edition, they weren’t released until March of 2020. It marked the first and only time that the La Flor de Cano brand ever appeared in Spain as a Regional Edition.

Now that some old stock is recirculating in the Spanish market, each 10-count box bears a “Fuera de Serie” sticker on the outer lid to indicate the country’s cigar-aging concept. And with extra age comes extra cost. When the Flor de Cano Mágicos debuted, it had a suggested retail price of 8 euros each (about $9 in 2020). Today, the Mágicos are priced at 20 euros apiece (around $23), an increase of 150 percent.

Spain is not the only country rereleasing aged cigars, as the United Kingdom has a similar campaign referred to as the House Reserve Aged & Rare program.

La Flor de Cano is primarily a short-filler Cuban brand but it occasionally takes premium form as a Regional Edition cigar. Italy, the Asia Pacific territory, Canada and the United Kingdom have all had a Regional Edition La Flor de Cano at one point during the history of the Regional series, which started in 2005.
