RoMa Craft Steel Porcupine Shipping This Month
Boutique cigarmaker RoMa Craft Tobac is shipping the newest installment of its Craft Maquette series, a run of limited-edition blends produced in small batches. Called Steel Porcupine, the new cigar is expected to ship the last week of August.
Made in Nicaragua at the company’s Nice Sueño factory in Estelí, the Steel Porcupine consists of a light Ecuador Connecticut cover leaf (the same wrapper used for the company’s Intemperance EC XVIII line) atop an African-grown binder leaf from Cameroon and a combination of fillers from Honduras and the Dominican Republic. In terms of strength, the company describes it as “medium plus.”
Steel Porcupine is available in one size, a hefty robusto format the company refers to as Short Fattys, and measures 4 1/2 inches by 56 ring gauge. It has a suggested retail price of $12 per cigar.
Like the previous releases in the Maquette Series, Steel Porcupine is packaged in paper-wrapped bundles instead of wooden boxes. Production is limited to approximately 700 bundles of 10 cigars, or 7,000 cigars.
