Punch Rare Corojo Gets 25th Anniversary Size
General Cigar Co. is celebrating 25 years of the company’s Punch Rare Corojo brand. Originally introduced as a limited edition, Rare Corojo became a regular-production line last year and now a new, commemorative size is being released for the brand’s silver anniversary. It boasts an entirely new blend and is scheduled to ship March 2. And, unlike the core line, this new cigar actually contains its namesake Corojo tobacco.
“For over two decades, Punch fans have eagerly anticipated new Rare Corojo front marks and releases,” said brand manager Scott Abney. “Now, to celebrate 25 years on the shelves, we’re giving them a taste of a new blend that delivers that same signature Punch they know and love.”
Measuring 6 inches by 54 ring gauge, the Punch Rare Corojo 25th Anniversary Toro ($10.99) is made entirely of Honduran leaves grown by the Eiroa family in the Jamastran Valley. The wrapper and binder tobaccos are grown from Corojo seed, a prized leaf that was grown decades ago in Cuba. The filler is a combination of Corojo and Habano.
The new cigar will be made on a continuing basis, part of the regular line, and will ship in boxes of 10. This 25th Anniversary brings the line up to 10 vitolas.
The Eiroas not only provide tobacco for this blend, they are making the cigar in Honduras at their Fabrica de Puros Aladino S.A. factory, unlike the standard line which is made at General Cigar’s STG Danlí factory.
