Plasencia’s New Look
Plasencia Cigars is changing its logo. What was once a simple P is now a more elaborate design that incorporates a tobacco leaf. In addition to being one of the world’s largest growers of premium tobacco, Plasencia also produces cigars in Nicaragua and Honduras. According to the company, the new logo is a better representation of the Plasencia family’s mission and history.
“Since 1865, every generation of Plasencia has inherited the same mandate: make it better,” says Néstor Andrés Plasencia, fifth-generation member of the Plasencia cigar family. “This identity makes visible what has always been true: that great tobacco starts with great soil, and that what we pass down matters as much as what we make today.”
You’ll notice that the tobacco leaf is rendered in a hexagonal shape. The hexagon has always resonated with Plasencia, as he often refers to it as “nature’s perfect shape.” It’s even become a signature for the company. Plasencia makes a few very distinct cigars in a six-sided, hex-press format, including the Alma del Cielo Amanecer, Alma Fuerte Sixto II and Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro Sixto I.
The new branding will be shown at the PCA trade show later this month, and should begin appearing on products this fall.
