Aganorsa Leaf is celebrating two decades of its JFR brand this year and, to mark the milestone, the company is introducing a new, regular-production line called JFR 20th Anniversary. It will be previewed at next month’s PCA trade show in New Orleans, as will the limited-edition Supreme Leaf Gran Toro.

Introduced in 2005, the JFR brand (short for “Just For Retailers”) is known for large, thick cigars at reasonable price points—and 20th Anniversary is no exception as three of its four box-pressed sizes measure 60 ring gauge or more. Two sizes are conventionally named, Toro (at 6 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge) and Titan (6 by 60), while the other two are named after their dimensions: 4 3/4 x 70 and 7 x 70. Suggested retail prices range between $9.50 and $12.50 each.

Made with a pigtail cap and uncut foot, JFR 20th Anniversary cigars are covered with a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. The rest of the blend consists of Nicaraguan tobacco all grown on farms owned by Aganorsa Leaf. According to the company, the 20th Anniversary is intended to be a medium-bodied cigar. All sizes come in 21-count boxes and are expected to ship in May.

In late June, Aganorsa’s limited-edition Supreme Leaf brand will be getting its biggest size yet: a 6-by-56, box-pressed smoke called Gran Toro. It’s an all-Nicaraguan cigar with an uncut foot and features a Corojo ’99 wrapper. Like the 20th Anniversary, the Nicaraguan tobacco comes from Aganorsa’s farms. It has a suggested retail price of $15.99.

With the new size comes a new design. The packaging for the entire Supreme Leaf line has been tweaked slightly for all future releases moving forward.

“The packaging update is intended to capture the striking design of the original and add an elegance to the presentation,” says Terence Reilly, Aganorsa’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We selected a Gran Toro vitola for this special release because at 6 by 56 it will be the largest format we have ever released in this blend.” Production is limited to just 3,000 boxes of 10 cigars.
