Dominican cigarmaker La Aurora is getting ready to release some limited editions later this month, some of which are new while others are older cigars taken from the company’s archives. The first is the La Aurora Preferidos Double Barrel-Aged Tubo, a perfecto that spent time aging in two rum barrels before being packaged in its metal tube. The second is a sampler pack called Prime Collection, which contains some of the company’s most sought-after limited cigars.

The La Aurora Preferidos Double Barrel-Aged Tubo is not to be confused with a similar cigar from 2016 as this is an entirely new blend. The 2026 edition is intended to be a full-bodied smoke, consisting of an Ecuador Habano wrapper, Pennsylvania broadleaf binder and a filler combination of Dominican, Nicaraguan and Pennsylvanian (broadleaf) tobaccos. La Aurora says that the binder and fillers were placed in rum barrels for a year before the cigars were rolled. The completed cigars were then placed in a rum barrel again for an additional 90 days of aging.

The Double Barrel-Aged Tubo measured 5 inches by 54 ring gauge, and has a suggested retail price of $28.50 each or $228 per eight-count box. Though not in regular production, the cigar is intended to be a limited, annual release. Only 750 boxes are scheduled for 2026.

The La Aurora Prime Collection is a greatest hits compilation of sorts, as each box contains a curated selection of different releases and limited editions from the past.

“The Prime Collection brings together rare gems rarely found in one place—making it truly unique in the U.S. market,” says Iturbides Zaldivar, La Aurora’s director of sales and marketing. “The Prime Collection is a collector’s piece, a celebration of everything La Aurora stands for: heritage, craftsmanship and the unwavering pursuit of excellence.”

The Prime Collection includes two of each of the following cigars:

In the collection, three of the cigars have previously seen commercial release but two have not: The Fernando León 100 Años Double Robusto and the La Aurora 100 Años Toro. Previously, the Double Robusto was only available at La Aurora’s factory store. The Toro was not a part of the recently relaunched 100 Años brand and differs from the core line as it is made with a pigtail cap. According to La Aurora, these Toros were rolled in 2024 and were then set aside for aging.

The Prime Collection (10-count box) has a suggested retail price of $270. Only 450 boxes are being produced.

All the cigars are made in the Dominican Republic at La Aurora S.A. They will be previewed at the PCA trade show this month and are expected to ship directly afterward.
