Las Calaveras by Crowned Heads Returns for 2020
Las Calaveras, the Day of the Dead-themed cigar from Crowned Heads is returning in its seventh edition on July 1st.
First introduced in 2014, the limited-edition Las Calaveras was created as a yearly tribute to those who have passed away the previous year and is intended to be a celebration of life, focusing on happy memories rather than the pain and sadness of loss. In commemoration, every release of Las Calaveras has four coins adorning the band featuring the initials of four individuals who have passed away last year.
“Las Calaveras has been one of our most sought-after annual releases since 2014,” said Crowned Heads co-founder, Jon Huber. “We felt that this year was time for a hard reset of sorts, in that we are scaling total production back to the original release numbers of only 1,000 boxes per vitola.”
The blend, which is different each year, consists of an Ecuador Habano Oscuro cover leaf and Nicaraguan binder and filler. According to Crowned Heads, the cigars are medium- to full-bodied and will be available in four sizes: LC48, measuring 5 1/2 inches by 48 ring gauge ($10.95); LC52, 5 by 52 ($11.95); LC56, 6 by 56 ($12.95); and Torpedo, 6 1/8 by 52. The first three sizes will be shipping to retailers in 24-count boxes, while the Torpedo will only be offered as part of a four-count cigar sampler ($49.95) which will also include the other three sizes. Only 500 samplers will be released.
Las Calaveras is made at the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, which is owned by the Garcia family.
