Crowned Heads Las Calaveras Returns for Sixth Year
Las Calaveras EL 2019 comes in four sizes: LC46, measuring 6 inches by 46 ring gauge; LC50, 5 by 50; LC 54, 5 1/2 by 54 and a fourth size called Torpedo (6 1/8 by 52) that’s only available as part of a four-count cigar sampler.

Las Calaveras, the Day of the Dead-themed cigar from Nashville-based cigar company Crowned Heads, is back for another limited-edition run. Now in its sixth year, Las Calaveras EL 2019 will ship to retailers next month.

Las Calaveras EL 2019 is rolled with an Ecuadoran Habano Oscuro wrapper over a blend of all-Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. The line spans four sizes: LC46, measuring 6 inches by 46 ring gauge; LC50, 5 by 50; LC 54, 5 1/2 by 54 and a fourth size called Torpedo (6 1/8 by 52) that’s only available as part of a four-count cigar sampler. The cigars will retail from $10.50 to $12.95, except for the sampler, which retails for $49.95.

Besides the sampler pack, the cigars come presented in 24-count boxes. Only 1,700 boxes of each size will ship to retailers, as well as an additional 2,500 sampler boxes containing the Torpedo.

Las Calaveras EL 2019

Thematically, the cigar celebrates the lives and memories of those who have passed away. This year’s version of Las Calaveras pays special tribute to Cano Ozgener, who started cigar company CAO International in 1968. Crowned Heads founders Jon Huber and MIke Condor both previously worked at CAO. Huber served as director of lifestyle marketing for the company. Condor held the role of CAO's senior vice president of marketing.

“When Cano passed on June 9 of last year, the cigar industry lost a true trailblazer and innovator, and I lost a mentor, friend and father figure,” said Crowned Heads co-founder Jon Huber. “He meant so much to us here at Crowned Heads and he touched the lives of far too many to mention. His legacy lives on not only in the cigar business, but in the lives of those whom he came in contact with during his lifetime.”

The original Las Calaveras debuted in 2014. The cigar is rolled at the My Father Cigars factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
