La Aurora Expands Family Creed Series With Perseverancia
Last year La Aurora, the oldest cigarmaker in the Dominican Republic, introduced Family Creed, a four-part series intended to not only create new blends in tune with the tastes of the modern market, but to also embody the virtues established in the Léon family creed. The first installment, Fuerte Sol (Spanish for “strong sun”), had a very strong debut. Its Robusto size scored 93 points and earned a spot on Cigar Aficionado’s most recent Top 25 list.
Next week, at this month’s PCA trade show in New Orleans, La Aurora will present the next installment in the series, Family Creed Perseverancia, which is planned to ship in early May.
Perseverancia is the Spanish word for “perseverance,” and it’s a word that has great meaning to the León family, makers of La Aurora cigars, which were first rolled in 1903. "Perseverancia is the word that has defined our family through every challenge, every triumph, and every generation that has carried this company forward," says Guillermo León, president of La Aurora. "The Family Creed Series was born from a promise to honor who we are while daring to evolve, and with Perseverancia, we deepen that promise. This is not simply the second chapter of a series—it is a declaration that the same tenacity that built La Aurora over a century ago is the very force driving us into the future. We do not rest on legacy; we are forged by it."
Made in the Dominican Republic at the La Aurora factory, Perseverancia is composed of a Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper, Mexican San Andrés binder and a combination of fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, along with some additional Pennsylvania broadleaf. According to the company, the blend is intended to be stronger than Fuerte Sol and is full-bodied.
Perseverancia is available in the same trio of box-pressed sizes as the Fuerte Sol line: Robusto, measuring 5 inches by 50 ring gauge ($16); Toro, 5 3/4 by 54 ($18); and Gran Toro ($18.50). All sizes ship in boxes of 20.
