Plasencia Honors World Cup With Triunfal
In celebration of the World Cup tournament, which begins on June 11 and is expected to be viewed by nearly six billion people, Plasencia Cigars will be releasing a limited-edition cigar called the Plasencia Triunfal Gran Toro. These cigars are meant to honor “a historic international celebration that brings nations together through passion, resilience and the enduring spirit of the beautiful game: fútbol,” the company says.
At 6 1/4 inches by 54 ring gauge, the Plasencia Triunfal Gran Toro is a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco, all grown by the Plasencia family. The Honduran wrapper was cultivated on the La Tradición farm in Jamastran; the Honduran binder is from the San Agustín farm in Olancho; and the filler is a combination of Nicaraguan tobacco from Jalapa (La Vega farm) and Honduran leaf from the same farm that produced the wrapper.
The cigars are made in Honduras at Plasencia’s Tabacos de Oriente factory. They will have a suggested retail price of $59.99 apiece or $599 per box of 10. Only 5,000 numbered boxes are being produced. This release is also the first cigar to incorporate the company’s new logo on the boxes and bands.
This wouldn’t be the first time that the Plasencias have created a World Cup cigar. In 2022, they released the Ehtëfal, which celebrated the tournament when it took place in Quatar.
