Joya de Nicaragua’s Cinco de Cinco Corona Doble Coming To The U.S.
What started as an international exclusive two years ago is coming to the U.S. market. In 2023 Joya de Nicaragua, the oldest cigarmaker in Nicaragua, celebrated its 55th anniversary. To mark such a milestone, the company released a commemorative line called Cinco de Cinco. Five sizes were produced but two of them, the Corona Doble and Robusto, were only available in international markets. Next month the Corona Doble will be available in the United States.
“Retailers and consumers continue to ask for formats that truly showcase the depth of a blend, and the Cinco de Cinco Corona Doble delivers exactly that,” says Joel Fernandez, national sales director of SAG, the distribution company formed earlier this year by Joya de Nicaragua and the Quesadas. “This vitola gives smokers the opportunity to experience the blend’s complexity over time, and we’re proud to bring another standout expression of the Cinco de Cinco line to the market.”
Made at the Joya de Nicaragua factory, the softly-pressed Corona Doble measures 7 inches by 54 ring gauge and consists of a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and filler from Nicaragua that Joya says is at least five years old. Shipping in emerald-colored boxes of 10, the Corona Doble retails for $21.99 each, or $219.99 per box. In terms of power, the company characterizes the line as “full-bodied with medium strength.”
The Cinco de Cinco Corona Doble will be on display at the PCA trade show in April and is expected to ship shortly after.
