Indiana Hoosiers Cigars Celebrate Underdog Championship
If you didn’t follow college football this season, then you missed out on one of the most remarkable championship runs in the history of the sport. The Indiana Hoosiers have long been known as a basketball school, while often playing little brother when it comes to football, particularly among fellow Big Ten juggernauts such as Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. But this year, that script was flipped. The Cinderella Story of the new transfer portal and NIL era became complete last month when the Hoosiers knocked off Miami to win the national championship and complete a perfect 16-0 season. If that’s not worthy of a cigar line dedicated to your likeness, then what is? Not to worry, Bocock Brothers is releasing the Indiana Hoosiers National Championship Box, which ships to retailers next week.
According to Bocock, the cigars will be limited in production. They’re made in Honduras with a blend that features a Sumatra wrapper from Ecuador, Honduran binder and Nicaraguan filler. The Hoosier smokes are being presented as a one-size line, a toro measuring 6 inches by 52 ring gauge. The cigars will be available in 10-count boxes with a suggested retail price of $275 a box, or $27.50 apiece.
If you’d like to preorder the National Championship Box, you can do so now on the Bocock Brothers website. Otherwise, the remaining inventory will ship to retailers across the country next week. Bocock says distribution is focused on two key fronts, Indiana brick-and-mortar retailers and hubs across the country with strong Indiana alumni footings. Within the state, distribution will include the major cities, such as Indianapolis, Bloomington, Fort Wayne and Carmel, as well as other locations. Nationwide, Bocock says the biggest surge in orders from retailers has been from Chicago, Cincinnati, Columbus, Florida, New York City, Dallas and Missouri.
Bocock Brothers also created a series of custom-crafted boxes that will be presented to the leaders of the Indiana program, including, but not limited to, head coach Curt Cignetti, athletic director Scott Dolson and quarterback Fernando Mendoza and his family.
This latest release is just another notch in the expanding belt that is Bocock’s collegiate portfolio. The boutique cigarmaker has carved a niche for itself with officially-licensed, collegiate smokes, with their most recent releases including cigars dedicated to Syracuse University basketball and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during his time at Mississippi State.
