Cuban Por Larrañaga Ignacios Coming To Belgium And Luxembourg
A new Cuban Regional Edition cigar is headed to tobacconists in Belgium and Luxembourg, and it's a somewhat fat one. Called Por Larrañaga Ignacios, the cigar measures 5 7/8 inches by 54 ring gauge, a size referred to as Geniales in Cuban cigar factories. The hefty format appears often in Cuba’s Regional Edition program. Region-specific smokes such as the Diplomaticos Reserva Exclusivas and the Juan Lopez Dom Juan 1622 are crafted with the same dimensions.
More common, regular-production Cuban cigars like the H. Upmann Connossieur B and Montecristo Open Eagle also share the same size parameters.
Ignacios wears a resplendent gold “Por Larrañaga” primary band and a secondary red band that reads “Exclusivo Belux,” a portmanteau of Belgium and Luxembourg. This isn’t the first Regional Edition cigar made for the Belgium and Luxembourg markets. Habanos has released Regional Edition cigars for the two European countries before, including the La Gloria Cubana Belux No. 1, the Bolivar Poderosos and the Diplomaticos El Diputado.
The Por Larrañaga Ignacios will retail for 23 euros apiece (about $27) and come packaged in varnished wooden boxes, each holding 10 cigars. Only 10,000 individually numbered boxes will be released. The cigars are expected to go on sale next week.
Originally designated a 2023 release, the heavy-ring-gauge Ignacios is a few years late to market. The cigar is distributed by Laguito 1492 N.V., the official Habanos S.A. distributor for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
