A Warped Isla Del Cocodrilo For International Markets
Last year, Warped Cigars released Isla Del Cocodrilo, a cigar made in the Dominican Republic named for the crocodile shape of Cuba. Sometime this fall, Warped will be launching a Cocodrilo made exclusively for international markets, but the blend is intended to be a little sweeter.
Like the original release, the upcoming Isla Del Cocodrilo consists of an Ecuador Habano wrapper, two binders (one from Ecuador, the other from Brazil) and Nicaraguan filler. And the wrapper, according to Warped, was still culled by the desflorado method. But brand owner Kyle Gellis says that the sweetness in this particular cigar comes from the addition of Peruvian Pelo d’Oro, a low-yield tobacco grown in very small quantities on account of its susceptibility to disease.
A few other things set this international release apart from the original: it only comes in one size, a Toro Grande, measuring 6 1/2 inches by 54 ring gauge; the box is blue instead of green; and a secondary band on the cigar denotes that this one is for markets outside of the United States.
The Toro Grande, which is made at Tabacalera La Isla in the Dominican Republic, will have a suggested retail price of $18 per cigar and come 15 per box. Only 1,500 boxes are being released.
Those attending the Intertabac trade show in Dortmund next week can get an advanced look at the new smoke.
