A Trio Of Limited-Edition Tatuajes
Growing up, you often hear the expression “It’s what’s on the inside that counts.” While that may be true, the outside counts a lot, especially in the world of cigars. In recent years, Tatuaje’s Pete Johnson has been experimenting by swapping wrappers on cigars in his portfolio to see how the flavor changes. At this year’s PCA trade show, Tatuaje showed off multiple cigars draped in a Nicaraguan Corojo-seed wrapper grown by the Garcia family. One, the regular production Corojo 7th Corona Gorda, has already shipped to market, and now three more limited editions should be heading to stores at the end of this month to further explore what difference a Corojo leaf can make.
The first of the trio is the T110 Corojo. Measuring 4 3/8 inches by 52 ring gauge, the all-Nicaraguan smoke features an internal blend that’s heavy on ligero leaves, the strongest type of tobacco, for a full-bodied smoke. This marks the fifth iteration of the T110 (the original Habano, Sumatra, Connecticut broadleaf and the Mexican-wrapped Tuxtla). The cigars retail for $12 each, and production is limited to 4,000 boxes of 25.
Next is the Cohete Corojo, based on Tatuaje’s Selección de Cazador line, commonly known as Brown Label. This marks the fourth version of Cohete (original Habano, Sumatra and Connecticut broadleaf). The name translates to “rocket” in Spanish, and the cigar measures 4 by 50 with a suggested retail price of $10 apiece. A total of 2,000 boxes of 25 have been produced.
While the previous two sizes are limited releases, the third and final is a regular-production size: Avion 13, a double-tapered perfecto measuring 6 7/8 by 52. The internals are based on Fausto, marketed as the boldest blend in the Tatuaje portfolio. This marks the third wrapper for the Avion 13 (the regular-production version is rolled in Connecticut broadleaf and a Tuxtla version was released in 2022). Retailing for $13 per cigar, production is limited to 2,000 boxes of 25.

Like most cigars in Tatuaje’s portfolio, the new smokes are made in Estelí, Nicaragua, at the My Father Cigars S.A. factory.
