Weller By Cohiba Blended With Barrel-Aged Broadleaf
When Weller by Cohiba debuted last year, it was meant to be paired with Weller Bourbon, a wheated spirit made at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Kentucky. This year’s 2022 release is meant to do the same, only this time the blend is different and the binder leaf has very close ties to the distillery where the whisky was born. General Cigar says it has been aged in Weller Bourbon barrels that were transported from the distillery to General Cigar Dominicana, the Dominican factory where these cigars are rolled.
Made in only one limited-edition size, the 6-inch-by-50-ring Toro is composed of tobaccos from five countries: An Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, a barrel-aged Connecticut broadleaf binder and filler from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras. While General won’t disclose how much time the binders spent in those Bourbon barrels, the company says that this new blend will “deepen the connection between the cigar and the spirit.”
Each Weller by Cohiba Toro is marked to retail for $24.99—or $249.99 per box of 10. The cigars are scheduled to begin shipping next week, on September 23.
