Warped Ships New Mexican Wrapped Companion
Warped Cigars has just released a new single-size smoke called Companion. It’s the second Warped cigar made in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera La Isla and it also marks the second time that Warped has launched a product with a Mexican wrapper.
Shipping to retailers today, Companion comes in only one size—a robusto measuring 4 1/2 inches long by 48 ring gauge—and showcases a dark Mexican San Andrés cover leaf. Underneath is a Dominican Criollo ’98 binder and filler of predominantly Dominican tobacco with some Nicaraguan leaf accounting for about 20 percent of the blend. It comes in slide-lid wooden boxes of 25, and has a suggested retail price of $12 each. The cigars are intended to be medium bodied.
“I have only used San Andrés wrapper once before, with El Oso Mama at El Titan de Bronze,” said brand owner Kyle Gellis, referring to the small factory in Miami. “The reason I never used it until now was that I simply could not find the quality that stood up to Warped standards. When I was in Santiago and sourcing material for a few of our new blends, I came across this wrapper and instantly knew this was something I wanted to work with.”
This is the second cigar made for Warped at Tabacalera La Isla, following the release of the Dominican Chinchalle (91points, Cigar Insider) in September.
