Warped Goes Full-Bodied With Nicotina
Warped is adding a strong, new cigar to its typically medium-bodied arsenal. The Florida-based company is reincarnating an old Cuban brand from 1880 called Nicotina. The new cigar is packed with Nicaraguan tobacco and it’s expected to be full bodied, a rarity for Warped.
The Warped Nicotina is shipping later this month and will come in one size, a slightly box-pressed belicoso that measures 5 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge. More sizes are expected to follow in the future.
Warped brand owner Kyle Gellis elaborated on the strength of his new cigar: “I wanted to craft a full-bodied blend,” he said, “but with our signature style of Warped, which is balanced and complex. This is not what your average cigar smoker would consider a full, powerful blend, but it is indeed for Warped.”
Made at the Aganorsa Leaf factory in Estelí, the Nicotina is a Nicaraguan puro—meaning all of its tobacco is grown in the Nicaragua, the country that leads the premium cigar industry in terms of production. it’s also grown by Aganorsa Leaf. Comprised of a Corojo ’99 wrapper, Criollo ’98 binder and a filler blend of the two, the new smoke has ties to the brand’s native country of Cuba beyond its name, as the seeds which sprouted its leaves were developed there.
The new smoke comes with high expectations, as another Nicaraguan puro from Warped made by Aganorsa Leaf was the No. 3 Cigar of 2019: the Warped Serie Gran Reserva 1988 Robusto.
The new cigars will retail for $11 each, and will come in boxes of 25.
