Ultra-Thick Chunk Maduro From Alec Bradley Gets Its Own Line
What was once a short, fat size found in other Alec Bradley lines is now a brand of its own—and it certainly lives up to its name. The Alec Bradley Chunk Maduro is a series of squat, hefty smokes with thicknesses of up to 80 ring gauge. They shipped to retailers earlier this week.
Chunk Maduro is the latest release from Scandinavian Tobacco Group, and the line is made in Honduras at the company’s HATSA factory. These cigars were blended for power, consisting of a Mexican wrapper around a Honduran binder that holds together a filler combination of Nicaraguan tobacco from Estelí, and Piloto Cubano from the Dominican Republic.
Fat and stocky from the first size to the last, Chunk Maduro comes in three regular-production sizes, plus two limited editions. The regular line consists of XL, which measures 4 inches by 60 ring gauge with a suggested retail price of $5.89 each; the even-thicker 3XL, at 4 by 66 ($7.49); and the thickest of the line, 4XL, which pushes the boundaries at 4 by 80 ($8.29).
If those are too thick, the limited-edition sizes might be a bit more manageable. The 2XL is a 4-by-64 torpedo at $6.39 each (the tapered head makes it easier to hold in your mouth). The L was rolled slightly smaller at 3 by 58 with a suggested retail price of $5.59 per cigar.
All sizes are presented in 20-count boxes, save for the 4XL, which comes in boxes of 18.
