A pair of new Regional Edition Cuban cigars have been released in the Asia Pacific territory, and one of them is a re-issue of a long-discontinued format.

The Flor de Cano Diademas is a Churchill-sized cigar that measures 7 inches long by 47 ring gauge, also known as Juleita No. 2 in Cuban cigar factories. This particular smoke was in production many years ago but discontinued in the 1990s. Vintage Flor de Cano Diademas tend to score well in Cigar Aficionado’s Connoisseur’s Corner section. If you can’t find any of the aged Diademas at auction, the new re-issue is now available at select locations in Hong Kong where it retails for HK$650 each, or about $83.65 per smoke. A broader release will be following soon (though Habanos S.A. distributor Pacific Cigar Co. Ltd. did not specify an exact date), and it should appear in Japan, Thailand, Australia and other countries served by Pacific Cigar.

Flor de Cano Diademas

In the Cuban lexicon, “diademas” are typically very long figurados that are pointed at the head and tapered at the foot, the Cuaba Diademas being an example. A diadema in a Churchill format is unusual.

The second Regional Edition cigar is the Por Larrañaga Lotus, a short robusto that measures 4 3/4 inches by 54 ring gauge (the same size as an H. Upmann Magnum 54). This cigar is made exclusively for Macau and has a suggested retail price of HK$550 each, or $70.77 apiece.

Both cigars come in slide-lid boxes of 25.
