Trinidad Espiritu No. 3 Goes To Mexico
First it was Nicaragua, then Brazil, but next month, the Trinidad Espiritu series is highlighting Mexico. On October 31, Altadis U.S.A. will be launching the Trinidad Espiritu Series No. 3, which showcases a Mexican San Andrés wrapper that the company says is “extra fermented.”
Made in Nicaragua by A.J. Fernandez, the upcoming Trinidad is a collaboration between Fernandez and Rafael Nodal, head of product capability for Altadis. The cigars are intended to be medium to full-bodied in strength.
Besides the Mexican wrapper, the entire cigar is made of Nicaraguan tobacco and comes in five sizes: Robusto, at 5 inches by 50 ring gauge; Toro, at 6 by 54, a 60-by-60 Magnum; Fundador, a long, thin panetela that measures 7 1/2 by 40; and Belicoso, measuring 6 1/8 by 52. Suggested retail prices range from $11.13 to $12.61 and the cigars come in 20-count boxes designed with Trinidad Espiritu’s signature festive motif.
The October 31 shipping date has nothing to do with Halloween, but was chosen to honor Día de Los Muertos (the Day of the Dead), a Mexican holiday that honors loved ones who have passed.
