RoMa Craft Releases A Barber Pole Cigar
Boutique cigarmaker RoMa Craft Tobac has introduced a new limited-production version of its CroMagnon line called Clovis. Most striking is its barber-pole construction, where two alternating wrappers—dark Pennsylvania broadleaf against light green Ecuador candela—spiral up and down the cigar for an eye-catching contrast of light and dark tobacco. The cigar began shipping last week and is in shops now.
Measuring 5 inches by 56 ring gauge, Clovis has the same dimensions as the EMH size in the regular-production CroMagnon line. Besides the swirl of candela wrapper, it has the same blend as well. With a suggested retail price of $13.15 per cigar, Clovis comes in boxes of 24. Production is limited to approximately 500 boxes per year.
The regular-production CroMagnon line—which consists of seven sizes—was updated earlier this year with a new blend, including a Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper to replace the Connecticut broadleaf of the previous version. According to the company, the change was implemented because it could no longer consistently source enough broadleaf from the Nutmeg State. The interior blend was also changed. A Sumatra-seed hybrid binder replaced Cameroon, and some Dominican leaf now joins the Nicaraguan fillers.
According to the company, the cigars are medium-full in terms of strength.
Like the rest of RoMa Craft’s brands, CroMagnon is produced in Nicaragua at the company’s Nica Sueño factory in Estelí.
