Rare Fuente Fuente OpusX Cigars Slated For 2023

Aged OpusX cigar samplers, a new Lost City A size and an $11,000 humidor are coming this year

If you’re a fan of buying Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars but like to age them a few years before smoking, you don’t have to wait quite so long. Prometheus International Inc. will be releasing multiple sets of rare and aged Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars throughout the remainder of this year. 

The first to ship is the Opus6, scheduled to arrive by the end of this month. Retailing for $350, each six-count sampler comes in Blue, Yellow, Red, Black and Macassar Ebony. Production is limited to 400 of each color, or 2,000 sets total. Secondary bands on the cigars indicate the year that they were rolled.

These aged Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars from the Opus6 sampler come with secondary bands to show what year they were rolled. It retails for 350 dollars each.

Each set contains one of the following cigars:

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Love Affair
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Magnum O
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Tiger Shark
  • Fuente Fuente Tauros The Bull
  • Don Arturo Gran AniverXario Churchill
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Lancero

In addition, consumers will receive a copy of The Fuente Story: Passion Behind the Tradition & Legacy, a biography of Carlos Fuente Sr.

The other three sets Opus5, Opus7 and Opus 8 are all scheduled to ship in November. Each set contains five, seven and eight cigars, respectively, and will include rarities such as the Fuente Fuente “Heaven and Earth BBMF, Purple Rain and Rare Black Torpedo. Suggested retail prices range from $335 to $539 per set.

Priced at 539 dollars, these OpusX "Heaven and Earth" series cigars in the Opus8 sampler have production dates ranging between 2015 to 2017.

For the first time in the brand’s history, the OpusX The Lost City will come in the rare “A” vitola, which will be called Carlito’s A. Measuring an imposing 9 1/4 inches by 48 ring gauge, the massive cigar comes in a 10-count box set to retail for $779, or $77.90 per cigar, before taxes. Expected to ship in December, production is limited to just 250 boxes.

Presented in the rare "A" dimensions for the first time, the OpusX The Lost City Carlito's A is limited to just 250 boxes and costs 779 dollars.

The rarest release is the second installment of 2023 OpusX Serie “Heaven and Earth” Big B humidor, which contains just over 100 aged cigars. Only 50 humidors were released in June with another 50 coming in December. Finished in red sycamore with an Okume interior, each humidor is individually numbered and has a suggested retail price of $11,000. It also included a copy of Arturo Fuente: Since 1912 in addition to the following cigars:

  • 10 Fuente Fuente OpusX BBMF Natural
  • 10 Fuente Fuente OpusX BBMF Maduro

  • 10 Fuente Fuente OpusX Rare Black Torpedo
  • 10 Fuente Fuente OpusX Rare Black Double Corona
  • 10 Fuente Fuente OpusX Tauros the Bull Maduro
  • 10 Fuente Fuente OpusX Scorpio Maduro

Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars are made in the Dominican Republic by Arturo Fuente Cigar Co., and feature Dominican wrappers grown at Chateau de la Fuente. Considered the crowning jewel of the Fuente portfolio, the all-Dominican smokes are made in limited quantities and released sporadically throughout the year.

Retailing for 11,000 dollars, each Big B humidor is individually numbered, comes with a certificate of authenticity and can hold up to 300 cigars.

Portions of each sale for the samplers and Big B humidor will go to the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, an organization started by Arturo Fuente Cigar Co. and J.C. Newman Cigar Co. to help the underprivileged and impoverished children of the Dominican Republic. The Lost City Carlito’s A will benefit the Lost City Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarship opportunities to graduates of the Cigar Family high school.

All humidors are made by Prometheus, which also handles distribution.
