Prestige Pens
Powerful and professional-looking, Montegrappa’s Otto pen collection takes design cues from the world of fine watchmaking.

With a flourish, you sign your name on the dotted line. We may live in the age of digital communication, but the pen is still our tool of choice for signing contracts, inking journals and taking notes in business meetings.

A plastic disposable model can get the job done, but it doesn’t deliver the satisfaction of putting ink to paper with a high-end writing instrument. A luxury pen, after all, is an object of personal expression, made with special materials and visual elements that reflect our individual tastes.

Designed to strike a chord with guitar players and rock & roll fans, S.T. Dupont’s new Line D Eternity Large Fender pen is crafted with a clip that looks like the neck and headstock of a Fender Stratocaster, complete with fretboard, strings and tuning pegs. Made in France, the writing instrument comes in two colorways: blue-and-gold and black-and-gold, with kintsugi-inspired lacquer designs and gold powder accents. The options include a rollerball pen ($1,995) and a fountain pen with a 14K gold nib ($2,195).

Powerful and professional-looking, Montegrappa’s new Otto collection takes design cues from the world of fine watchmaking. The softly rounded octagon-shaped pen is made of black resin and features both mirror and satin polishing on its faceted stainless-steel trim. At the finial, a metal “M” ambigram sits recessed beneath a sapphire crystal. Made in Italy, Otto is available in palladium, gold and ultrablack finishes and comes in three versions: ballpoint, rollerball and fountain pen with an 18K gold nib. Depending on the format, the pen is priced 795 euros to 1,395 euros, or about $933 to $1,638.

Montblanc’s StarWalker pen cites the exploration of space and the wonders of the universe. The new PolarGreen version is a tribute to the Northern Lights, topped with a transparent dome that glows in the dark. Its wave pattern barrel is inspired by the color and movement of the aurora borealis. Made in Germany, StarWalker PolarGreen comes in three editions, each with platinum-coated trim. The first has a dark green precious resin cap and barrel. The second, a resin barrel and a platinum-coated metal cap. The third features all-metal construction with dark green lacquer over a guilloche pattern. The pen is available in three formats (ballpoint, fineliner and fountain pen with 14K gold nib) priced from $510 to $1,270.
