The 2025 versions of Pledge of Allegiance, a cigar from E.P. Carrillo that combines two of the company’s better-known brand names (Pledge and Allegiance) and honors American heritage, is shipping to cigar shops on Friday. The new edition has a new blend that differs from previous releases.

The 2025 E.P. Carrillo Pledge of Allegiance Toro measures 6 inches long by 54 ring gauge, and comes in numbered, serialized boxes of 10, limited to 1,776 boxes, a number that honors the year the United States was created. It’s the same size offered in previous years, and the production run is also the same. Each cigar has a suggested retail price of $22.

This year’s rollout also includes a new perfecto size called Rockets, a longer, fatter cigar that’s tapered at both ends and measures 6 3/8 by 58. Those are also packed 10 to the box, but production of Rockets is limited to only 249 boxes, each of them numbered (this year is the 249th birthday of the United States). Each Rocket will sell for $30.

Fittingly, Pledge of Allegiance cigars are festooned with red, white and blue imagery, and are made with a hearty helping of American tobaccos, but the 2025 blend is slightly modified from years past. The wrapper is dark broadleaf, grown in the Connecticut River Valley. The binder is Ecuadoran Habano, around a mix of Nicaraguan and American filler. In the case of the U.S. tobacco, it comes from Connecticut and Pennsylvania. The Nicaraguan components are a mix of leaves from Jalapa and Condega. Previous versions of Pledge of Allegiance had Ecuador Connecticut binders, rather than Ecuador Habano, and also had some Dominican tobacco in the filler blend.

“This release is more than a cigar—it’s a tribute,” says Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, who makes the cigars in his Casa Carrillo factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic. “The blend speaks to the strength and diversity that define the American spirit, and it’s an honor to craft something that resonates so deeply with our values.”

Pledge of Allegiance debuted in 2023 with one size, a Toro. Last year the release had two sizes, the 2024 Toro (which scored 91 points in a Cigar Insider blind taste test) and a Salomon.
