Ozgener’s New Pi Synesthesia Red Brings The Spice
Last year, Ozgener Family Cigars gave us the taste of yellow. Now, it’s offering the taste of red. The second in a line of cigars that combine color and math, Ozgener Family Cigars Pi Synesthesia Red is coming to the PCA cigar show in early July.
The first cigar was “What does yellow taste like?” says veteran cigar blender and brand owner Tim Ozgener. This new one, which has a red band around the foot, is supposed to taste like the color red. “When I asked consumers [what red tastes like] people were gravitating more towards heat, red peppers, hot sauces.”
Pi Synesthesia Red is rolled in the Dominican Republic by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and made with a blend of Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler. Ozgener says it has some kick: “It’s one of these cigars that starts off with a definitive bang. It’s got a bit of a sneaky element to it. You think it’s calming down, but it’s stronger than you think. This cigar, you want to smoke it after you eat something. It’s not a morning cigar.”
Like the first Pi Synesthesia, which came out a year ago, this smoke is limited, only 2,500 boxes, each of them packed with a dozen cigars. The smokes inside are 6 inches long by 52 ring gauge, and the suggested retail price should be around $15 per cigar. Shipping is expected to commence by early September.
