New World Decenio By AJ Fernandez Shipping
Last year marked the ten-year anniversary of A.J. Fernandez’s New World brand and for the occasion, the cigarmaker created a new line called New World Decenio (“decade” in Spanish). The commemorative cigars—which were previewed at the PCA trade show in New Orleans this spring—starting shipping to retailers last week.
The line is available in three softly box-pressed sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 1/2 inches by 54 ring gauge; Toro, 6 1/2 by 54; and Gordo, 6 by 58. The suggested retail prices run from $12.50 for the Robusto to $15 for the Gordo, with the Toro selling for $14.
Intended to be a medium-to-full-bodied smoke, the blend for New World Decenio consists of a Mexican cover leaf, Nicaraguan binder and a mix of fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua.
Though a fire at A.J. Fernandez’s Estelí factory disrupted some of his operations earlier this year, Decenio was not impacted as it is produced at his San Lotano factory in Ocotál, Nicaragua. The Decenio was deliberately released a year so as to not confuse it with the release of the A.J. Fernandez 20th Anniversary, which came out in 2024.
