New Warped La Hacienda ‘First Growth’ Bolder Than the Original
Kyle Gellis, owner of Warped Cigars and the maker of the No. 3 cigar of 2019, will be releasing later this year a stronger offshoot of his La Hacienda brand called La Hacienda ‘First Growth.’
‘First Growth’ will be a regular-production addition that will debut this fall in only one size, a 4 1/2 inch by 48 ring gauge offering. It is rolled entirely with Nicaraguan tobaccos grown by Aganorsa, and is made at the Aganorsa Leaf factory where the original line is crafted, too.
The tobaccos—Corojo '99 for the wrapper, binder and part of the filler, with Criollo '98 also in the filler—are the same as the ones used in the original La Hacienda. Whereas the original uses more seco and almost no ligero, ‘First Growth’ uses higher-primings that add, according to Gellis, a touch more strength and body. Gellis says this new version will be more medium- to full-bodied.
To set ‘First Growth’ apart from the original, the bands will sport a slightly different colorway and also feature a secondary band.
The new cigar comes in boxes of 25 with a penciled vista that resembles a wine label, another passion of Gelllis’. It’s set to retail for $8.95.
