New Rocky Patel Cigars To Debut At IPCPR
Rocky Patel Premium Cigars is set to launch three new lines at next week's IPCPR trade show that include a special birthday blend, a brick-and-mortar exclusive and the company's first-ever cigar made in the Dominican Republic.
While the company is withholding blend details for the new brands, it did divulge sizes for each line, prices and where each will be made.
Dark Dominican will be rolled at General Cigar Co.'s General Cigar Dominicana in Santiago, where the non-Cuban versions of Cohiba, Partagás and La Gloria Cubana are produced. While General Cigar makes Patel's Vintage 1990, 1992 and 1999 brands in its Scandinavian Tobacco Group factory in Danlí, Honduras, Dark Dominican will be the first Dominican-made brand from Rocky Patel. The cigar will come packed in 20-count boxes in four sizes: Corona, measuring 5 1/2 inches by 42 ring gauge ($9.05); Robusto, 5 1/2 by 50 ($9.55); Churchill, 7 by 49 ($9.95); Supremo, 6 by 54 ($10.00).
Originally blended to commemorate owner Rocky Patel's 55th birthday, Fifty-Five is being turned into a regular-production line. Each of the cigars are 55 ring gauge with a tapered head and foot. Made in Nicaragua at Rocky Patel's Tabacalera Villa Cubana S.A., or TaviCusa, the Fifty-Five will come in four formats: Corona, at 4 by 55 ($9.25); Robusto, 5 1/2 by 55 ($10.30); Toro, 6 1/2 by 55 ($11.40); and Titan, 8 by 55 ($13.50). While Titan will come in boxes of 10, the other sizes will be packed in 20-count boxes.
At next week's show, the company will also debut Special Edition, a brick-and-mortar exclusive. Each of the three vitolas in the line are box pressed and come in 10-count boxes. Also made in Nicaragua at TaviCusa, the three sizes are: Robusto, at 5 1/2 by 50; Toro, 6 1/2 by 52; and Sixty, 6 by 60. The cigars range in price from $9.95 to $11.50.
