New Plasencia Sampler Heading to Stores
Plasencia Cigars has created a new sampler pack with some special smokes inside—including two cigars that previously earned spots on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars of the Year list. Called Colección Explorador, the six-cigar assortment was designed to highlight the variety of blends and flavor profiles in Plasencia’s brand portfolio. The sampler began shipping to retailers this week.
Colección Explorador, which translates to “explorer collection” in Spanish, contains five parajos and one figurado.
- Plasencia Reserva Original Robusto, measuring 4 3/4 inches by 52 ring gauge.
- Plasencia Cosecha 151 San Diego, 5 3/4 by 46.
- Plasencia Alma del Campo Sendero, 6 by 56.
- Plasencia Alma del Fuego Concepción, 6 by 54.
- Plasencia Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro Sixto I, 6 by 60.
- Plasencia Alma Fuerte Generación V, (the figurado) sized at 7 by 58.
The Alma del Fuego Concepción was named Cigar Aficionado's No. 13 Cigar of 2019, and Alma Fuerte Generación V was titled No. 9 Cigar of 2017. Both award-winning smokes scored 93 points.
“The Colección Explorador was created for those who see cigar smoking as an act of discovery,” said tobacco grower and cigarmaker Nestor Andrés Plasencia. “Each cigar offers a new perspective on our craft—an exploration of flavor, form and family heritage.”
The sampler cigars come packaged in a six-count wooden box with a green-and-gold-colored outer sleeve. The set is priced at $119.99.
Cosecha 151 is rolled at Plasencia’s Tabacos de Oriente factory in Danlí, Honduras. Reserva Original and the Alma series (Alma del Campo, Alma del Fuego and Alma Fuerte) are made in Nicaragua at Plasencia Cigars S.A.
