The previously discontinued Trinidad Robusto Extra has been brought back to celebrate the brand's 55th anniversary. While the size hasn't changed, the box and bands were redesigned to reflect 55 years of Trinidad.

There’s a coterie of new Cuban cigars scheduled for this year and many of them celebrate major brand anniversaries. The announcements for the new cigars were made this morning in Havana at the press conference that marked the official start to the Habanos Festival.

Trinidad Cabildos

Trinidad is taking the spotlight at this year’s event, as Habanos is feting the brand’s 55th anniversary. Fans will remember the Robusto Extra size (6 1/8 inches long by 50 ring), which was discontinued and then brought back as a duty-free exclusive. Habanos has repositioned the Robusto Extra once again, and this time it’s coming back into regular production, sold in 12-count and three-count boxes. A second band and third foot band indicate the new 55th Anniversary release. Also from Trinidad, the Cabildos (6 3/8 by 46) is one of the Edición Limitadas for 2024. If you want something with more age, a new humidor by S.T. Dupont comes filled with Trinidad Fundadores aged a minimum of 10 years.

Two more Edición Limitadas were announced for 2024: the Ramon Allones Absolutos (6 1/8 by 49) and the H. Upmann Magnum Finite (5 1/8 by 53). You can read more details about all the Limitadas in a future story.

Quai d’Orsay

Quai d’Orsay turns 50 this year, and the upcoming Especial d’Orsay marks the occasion. At six inches long by 53 ring, the new cigar comes in 20-count boxes. Quai d’Orsay started as a brand intended primarily for the French market, but has since become a global cigar.

San Cristobal

San Cristobal is also celebrating a major milestone. The brand turned 25 years old and will be offered in a 6 1/2-by-50 size called 25 Aniversario, but the cigars are limited, offered in 50-count humidors. San Cristobal is also the chosen brand for this year’s Colección Habanos. The Reinas measures 6 7/8 by 55. Each box looks like a book, and only 3,000 boxes are being produced.

The Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill is slated to be the next Reserva release. Packaged in glossy boxes of 15, these cigars are purportedly made with tobacco from a 2019 harvest.

Attendees have the opportunity to purchase a few of these items during the festival. A limited number of the new Quai d’Orsay will be sold during two of the evening galas. Three-packs of the Trinidad Robusto Extras will be sold on the final evening event, and were also for sale at the trade fair following the press conference.
