New Bolivar Regional Edition Cuban Coming To France
Cuba’s venerable Bolivar brand will soon have a new size, a Regional Edition made exclusively for France and designed to celebrate 55 years of Coprova, the French Habanos distributor. The Bolivar Evento 55 Exclusivo Francia will go on sale next month. It’s a Genios size, 5 1/2 inches long by 52 ring gauge, with a suggested retail price of 35 euros per cigar ($40), and should be available by mid July.
Like all Regional Edition Cubans, this cigar has a red and silver secondary band marking its exclusivity, in this case reading “Exclusivo Francia.” This particular band however is larger and curved on top, also reading “55 Aniversario Coprova.” Regional editions that celebrate distributor anniversaries are given these special bands.
The cigar will be packed in cabinets of 50, which Coprova said is a first for a French Regional Edition cigar. Each box will be individually numbered, and the release is being capped at 4,000 boxes, or a total run of 200,000 cigars.
The Bolivar brand is more than a century old, created in 1902 by José Fernández Rocha and named for Simón Bolívar, the liberator of many South American countries.
