Macanudo Inspirado Jamao Showcases Experimental Wrapper
What do you get when you take a Honduran tobacco seed from the Jamastran Valley and plant it in the Dominican soils of Mao? The answer is a new wrapper, and it’s the defining tobacco for the Macanudo Inspirado Jamao, a limited-edition smoke that General Cigar Co. started shipping to retailers yesterday.
The new wrapper leaf covers a Honduran binder and filler from Honduras, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.
“For this limited-edition expression of Macanudo Inspirado, we acclimated a Habano seed varietal from Jamastran, Honduras to Mao, Dominican Republic, and ultimately produced a beautiful wrapper,” says Jhonys Diaz, General Cigar’s senior vice president of leaf operations. “We named the release ‘Jamao’ which represents the blending of Jamastran and Mao.”
Made in the Dominican Republic at General Cigar Dominicana, the new smoke comes in two sizes: Toro, measuring 5 3/4 inches by 52 ring gauge, and a 7-by-49 Churchill. They retail for $10.49 and $10.59, respectively and are packaged in 20-count boxes. Only 2,300 boxes are being released, all for the United States.
Outside of limited-edition releases, the color-coded Macanudo Inspirado series consists of six lines: Orange, Black, White, Red, Green and Palladium.
