La Flor Dominicana And ProjectCarbon Team Up For Carbon Flower
La Flor Dominicana, makers of powerhouse smokes such as the Andalusian Bull and the Double Ligero Chisel, is introducing a new full-bodied cigar that comes packaged in a carbon fiber travel case. Named Carbon Flower, the limited-edition cigar and five-finger case is made in collaboration with cigar accessory maker ProjectCarbon. The cigar will be on display at the PCA convention this weekend and is slated to arrive at retailers later in the spring.
“We expect to ship [Carbon Flower] by the end of May or early June,” Tony Gomez of La Flor Dominicana told Cigar Aficionado.
Rolled with a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, Carbon Flower contains a San Andrés binder and filler leaf from La Flor Dominicana’s La Canela farm in the Dominican Republic. The cigar is billed as full-bodied by the company. The pigtailed smoke measures 6 inches by 54 ring gauge and comes in a single size called Toro. It’s made at La Flor Dominicana’s factory in the Dominican Republic.
Carbon Flower will arrive in cigar shops packed in five-count carbon fiber carrying cases. The protective holders are meant to be saved after the La Flor’s are smoked, providing customers with a durable and lightweight solution for transporting their future cigars. A total of 1,500 cases, containing 7,500 cigars, will be released. Each case has a suggested retail price of $200.
“The case can be reused,” says Alan Shea, operations director and president of ProjectCarbon. “It can fit cigars up to 58 ring gauge and up to your desired length as it is a two-piece product that is also air tight. Extremely lightweight and strong. This will be a light travel carry that can hold a weekend worth of cigars.”
