La Aurora Ships New Commemorative 1962 Corojo and 1987 Connecticut Blends

Two new La Aurora cigars commemorating specific dates in the brand's blending history have begun shipping to U.S. and international retailers. Both new blends—dubbed 1962 Corojo and 1987 Connecticut—bear the name of the tobacco varietal used for the wrapper of the respective cigar, and the year in which La Aurora began blending with that specific leaf.

Draped in its namesake wrapper, which was grown in the Cibao Valley region of the Dominican Republic, the 1962 Corojo cigar celebrates the company's 54 years of blending with corojo wrapper leaf. The blend consists of an Ecuadoran binder and additional filler tobacco from Cibao Valley, as well as Nicaragua.

The Connecticut 1987 features a shade-grown Connecticut wrapper with a Dominican binder and a mix of Nicaraguan and Dominican filler.

Both new cigars come in four sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 inches by 50 ring gauge; Churchill, 7 by 50; Toro, 5 1/2 by 54; and Gran Toro, 6 by 58. The 1962 Corojo and 1987 Connecticut come in boxes of 20 and range in price from $5.50 to $6.00 per cigar.
