Hublot Big Bang E
Changing times: wearers of the Hublot Big Bang E can choose from a selection of dial displays.

It’s time that smart tech met smart style. Hublot’s latest contender in the smartwatch world, Big Bang E, merges cutting-edge innovation with the quality and esthetic codes of fine Swiss watchmaking, delivering the best of both worlds.

Available in titanium ($5,200) or sleek black ceramic ($5,800), the 42mm “sandwich” Big Bang case consists of 42 components, 27 of which for the K Module make up the “cage” that holds the digital heart of the watch.

All the Big Bang touchstones are evident in the new E—from the screws to the pushers to the deployant buckle (which needn’t be fully detached to slip off) on the One Click interchangeable rubber strap. The hour numerals are metallized under the scratchproof sapphire crystal, which is covered with an AMOLED high-def touchscreen controlled by the rotary crown with an integrated pusher. It’s also water-resistant down to 30 meters.

This generation is even sharper than its 2018 predecessor, the World Cup themed Referee. Designed for practicality, the Big Bang E is equipped with Wear OS by Google, which customizes the smartwatch experience with notifications and messages, in addition to accessing apps on Google Play, tapping Google Assistant for answers to questions and making payments on the go with Google Pay. A series of eight colorful, animated dials stem from the imagination of contemporary painter Marc Ferrero, a brand partner. Every three hours, the dial changes color and a five-second animation plays at the turning of every hour. Hublot plans to continually add new dial options,

The Big Bang E does not, however, completely cut ties with its roots in mechanical watchmaking as it has new functions linked to traditional watchmaking: e.g., a perpetual calendar with a high-precision moon phase and a second GMT time zone with a hyper-realistic representation of the earth. Or you can simply opt for a time-only analog function.
