This past weekend, television personality Guy Fieri, best known as the host of “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,” turned 55. At his birthday celebration a special limited-edition version of Knuckle Sandwich, the brand he created with Erik Espinosa, was unveiled to mark the occasion. The new smoke is called Fifty-Five, and retailers will begin receiving the cigar in stores in early February.

“Guy wanted to do something special for his birthday—what better gift than a special cigar made for a special occasion?” Espinosa said in a press release. “As luck would have it, this limited release coincides with the one-year anniversary of the launch of Knuckle Sandwich Cigars. We are both very proud of the success and reviews it has garnered in its first year.”

Measuring a stout 5 1/2 inches by 55 ring gauge, the Knuckle Sandwich Fifty-Five is available in a single size the company calls Robusto Oval. The size gets its name from a special method of pressing called an oval press, where instead of being round, the cigar has an oval shape. A secondary band is emblazoned with the number 55. The cigar is wrapped with a dark Mexican San Andrés cover leaf. Like the regular production versions of Knuckle Sandwich (Habano, Maduro and Connecticut), it is all-Nicaraguan inside, but the Fifty-Five is made with a different blend.

Production will be limited to just 555 boxes of 10. It has a suggested retail price of $150 per box, or $15 per cigar.

Like all Knuckle Sandwich cigars, the Knuckle Sandwich Fifty-Five is made in Nicaragua at A.J. Fernandez’s San Lotano S.A. factory in Ocotal.

Earlier this year the Espinosa Knuckle Sandwich Habano Corona Gorda R was named Cigar Aficionado’s No. 23 cigar of 2022.
