Fuente’s Mexican-Wrapped Sangre De Toro Now Available
During a visit the Chateau de la Fuente property in the Dominican Republic three years ago, Carlos Fuente Jr. showed something unexpected to Cigar Aficionado. It was a bale of Mexican wrapper. This was the first time that Fuente was working with Mexican leaf and he told us that it was intended for a “special project,” but would say no more. That project ended up being the Don Carlos Sangre de Toro (“blood of the bull”), and most of the sizes are now available.
The new brand was first previewed at the 2025 PCA trade show and consists of a dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper that envelops an all-Dominican blend. Fuente has been slowly trickling the sizes into the market since late last year, starting with the Sangre de Bestia (6 1/4 inches by 52 ring gauge, $16.75) and Puro Cajones (5 3/4 by 54, $15.75) in the fall. Two more sizes followed in the subsequent months: Undefeated (5 1/2 by 46, $14.60) and a torpedo called Raging Bull (5 7/8 by 55, $18.50).
The only cigar that has yet to ship is the fifth size simply called Robusto, which measures 5 by 50 and has a suggested retail price of $15. All are made in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. and come in glossy, 20-count boxes depicting a charging bull. The words “corazón con cojones” are also printed on the lid, translating to “heart with balls,” warning the smoker to expect power on the palate. Samples puffed by Cigar Aficionado have proven that statement to be on target.
