Falto To Show Its First Box-Pressed Cigar At IPCPR
Falto Cigars will be showing it’s first box-pressed cigar at this week’s IPCPR trade show. Called Falto LJF Reserva del Fundador, the cigar measures 5 1/2 inches long by 52 ring gauge and is made at the La Aurora S.A. factory in the Dominican Republic, where all Falto cigars are made.
“A box-pressed cigar was way overdue,” said brand owner Luis Falto. “Even though I make cigars according to my taste, I have always enjoyed box-pressed cigars, and the market seems to enjoy them, too.”
The cigar is covered in a Dominican wrapper Falto calls Habano ’92. The rest of the blend consists of an Ecuadoran Sumatra binder and filler tobacco from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The cigars come packaged in 20-count boxes and carry a suggested retail price of $7 each.
Falto cigars are unique in the premium cigar world, as Falto creates only one size for every blend, unlike most cigarmakers who will extend the same blend over multiple sizes and adjust the tobacco proportions accordingly. Falto believes that every blend he comes up with is best expressed in a single format, whether it be a perfecto, lancero, or, in this case, a box-pressed toro.
