Dominican Partagas Barber Pole Cigar Returns For Second Seasonal Release
The Partagas Añejo barber-pole style cigar will be back next week for its second appearance this year. Heading to retailers on October 3, the two-size line showcases two very aged wrappers—one Connecticut shade and the other Cameroon.
Barber-pole cigars are made with two contrasting pieces of wrapper leaf, giving them an eye-catching appearance. According to General Cigar Co., the Cameroon cover leaf used on this smoke is from a 1998 crop and is intertwined with a lighter, Connecticut shade wrapper from 2013. The word añejo is Spanish for “old,” a reference to the exceptionally aged wrappers. Underneath is a Dominican binder that holds together a filler blend of Mexican and Dominican tobacco.
Like the first release in March, Partagas Añejo is made in the Dominican Republic and comes in the same two sizes: Petit Robusto, measuring 4 1/2 inches by 49 ring gauge, and Esplendido, at 4 1/2 by 60. They have suggested retail prices of $6.99 and $7.49, respectively, and both are packaged in slide-lid cabinets of 25.
The cigars are distributed by General Cigar, a subsidiary of parent company Scandinavian Tobacco Group.
