Delayed San Lotano Dominicano Shipping This Week

San Lotano Dominicano, a collaboration between A.J. Fernandez and José “Jochy” Blanco, is finally coming to market. It was supposed to ship to retailers in January, but Fernandez thought the cigars needed a few more months to be optimal. Now, the smokes are ready and should be arriving to retail shops this week.

Made in the Dominican Republic at Blanco’s Tabacalera Palma factory, San Lotano Dominicano cigars contain tobacco grown by both Fernandez and Blanco. The blend consists of Cuban-seed, Brazilian wrapper, Dominican binder and a filler mix of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. The Nicaraguan tobacco is grown by Fernandez whereas the Dominican leaf is grown by Blanco.

Originally slated for five sizes, Fernandez dropped the Corona, so San Lotano Dominicano now comes in four vitolas: Robusto, at 5 inches by 50 ring gauge; Toro, 6 by 50; Torpedo (box-pressed), 6 1/2 by 52; and Gordo, 6 1/4  by 60. Suggested retail prices range from $8.50 to $10.

The San Lotano Dominicano line is distributed by A.J. Fernandez out of Miami. First shipments went out to retailers yesterday.

For a vertical tasting of the entire brand, see an upcoming issue of Cigar Insider.
