Davidoff of Geneva is expanding its Zino cigar brand with a full-bodied line called Zino Honduras. The follow-up to Zino Nicaragua, released in 2021, the new Zino is said to deliver “more intensity” than its predecessor and is slated to arrive in two versions: one with a traditional capped head, the other with a pre-cut head, which is rather unusual in the world of handmade cigars. Zino Honduras will be on display at the PCA trade show in New Orleans next month and is expected to arrive at retailers on June 26th.

Zino Honduras was blended for power and aimed at consumers with an appetite for fuller-bodied cigars. It’s rolled with an Ecuadoran wrapper and an internal blend of Honduran tobaccos from two of the country’s prominent growing regions: Copán and the Jamastrán Valley. The cigar comes in three sizes: Half Corona, measuring 4 inches by 44 ring gauge ($6.70), Robusto, at 5 by 54 ($7.50) and a 6-by-50 Toro ($8). The cigars are rolled at the Diadema Cigars de Honduras S.A. factory, located in Danlí, Honduras.

Interestingly, all three sizes of Zino Honduras will be offered with either a pre-cut head or a traditional capped head. The packaging options determines how the cigar will arrive:

  • Half Corona, Robusto and Toro cigars shipping in wooden, 25-count boxes will have a regular capped head.
  • Robusto and Toro packaged in 5-count boxes will have a regular capped head.
  • The Half Corona size in five-count metal tins and five-count boxes will have a pre-cut head.
  • Robusto and Toro vitolas in four-count fresh pack bags will be pre-cut.

So why the pre-cut heads? Davidoff says the travel-friendly packaging options that contain pre-cut cigars were designed for cigar connoisseurs on the move.

Zino

“We are delighted to be launching Zino Honduras to meet the rising demand for more intense cigars,” said Javier González, senior vice president and head of global marketing and innovation at Oettinger Davidoff. “The high quality of these handmade cigars, combined with the enhanced flexibility and spontaneity offered through innovative packaging and cut options, truly sets this line apart and reflects what Zino Cigars stands for as a brand.”
