CAO Flathead Kicks Into Higher Gear With Resonator
For the gear heads and cigar nuts who love the roar of an engine almost as much as puffing on a thick smoke, General Cigar Co. is adding a new size to its CAO Flathead brand. Called Resonator, the huge, box-pressed cigar measures 8 inches by 60 ring gauge. It’s not the thickest cigar in the line—that designation goes to the V770 Big Block—but it is the longest. Resonator is expected to come cruising to retailers this week on the first of February.
CAO Flatheads are box-pressed cigars topped with notably flat heads to resemble the engine blocks of classic hot rods. Each size is named after a car part. The resonator, for example, is part of a car’s exhaust system and its function is to help reduce engine noise.
Looking under the hood, CAO Flathead consists of a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, a Connecticut Habano binder and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. With a suggested retail price of $12.79 each (before taxes), the new, massive cigar “packs a powerful punch,” according to General.
The Resonator ships in a silver 24-count box that resembles an engine block and includes a metal plasma-cut lid that can double as garage art.
CAO Flathead is rolled in Nicaragua at the STG Estelí factory.
The Resonator brings the CAO Flathead line to six regular-production sizes.
