Bellas Artes Maduro Coming This Summer
The Bellas Artes brand from A.J. Fernandez is going dark. Cloaked in an inky, Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper, Bellas Artes Maduro will be released at the upcoming IPCPR trade show this summer, and it’s blended with plenty of tobacco that Fernandez grows himself.
“Since A.J. is always tinkering with all types of tobacco, he was very impressed with the taste of this wrapper, which he doesn’t really use,” said Frank Santos, media director for A.J. Fernandez Cigar Co.
Underneath the dark Mata Fina wrapper is a Mexican San Andrés binder and Nicaraguan filler grown on Fernandez’s farms.
Packaged in 20-count boxes, the cigars will retail from $9 to $11 and come in four box-pressed sizes: Short Churchill, measuring 6 inches by 48 ring gauge; Robusto at 5 1/2 by 52; Toro, 6 by 54; and Gordo 6 1/2 by 58.
“Bellas Artes was originally inspired by [Fernandez’s] visits to the national art museum in Havana, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de la Habana,” Santos added. “It’s also the perfect complement to the original Bellas Artes.”
The Bellas Artes Maduro cigars are made at Fernandez's Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua factory in Estelí.
