Avo Syncro Nicaragua Fogata Launching in June
Davidoff of Geneva is preparing to launch Avo Syncro Nicaragua Fogata, the follow-up project to last year's Avo Syncro Nicaragua. The original Syncro Nicaragua was the first regular-production Avo cigar to incorporate Nicaraguan tobacco into its blend, with filler leaves hailing from the volcanic island of Ometepe. Fogata builds off this concept by replacing the Ometepe tobacco with filler leaves from farther north: tobacco from Condega and Estelí, Nicaragua.
"Fogata, meaning bonfire or campfire in Spanish, was a great inspiration for this new cigar. It is one of my favorite settings to share unforgettable and intimate moments with my closest of friends," cigarmaker and famed jazz musician Avo Uvezian said in a statement. "With Syncro Nicaragua Fogata, we went off the beaten path in search of more intense taste experiences and are proud to now share with you this vibrant new blend in our portfolio."
Fogata wears an Ecuadoran Habano 2000 Clara wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés Negro binder and fillers from both the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Unlike the original Syncro Nicaragua, Syncro Nicaragua Fogata will not be box-pressed. The cigar will launch in four sizes: Short Torpedo, measuring 4 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge ($8.90); Robusto, 5 by 50 ($9.90); Toro, at 6 by 54 ($10.90) and Special Toro, at 6 by 60 ($11.90). Each vitola will ship in 20-count boxes.
Avo Syncro Nicaragua Fogata in manufactured at the Oettinger Kelner (OK) Cigars factory in the Dominican Republic. Davidoff says the cigars are expected to start shipping at the end of June, with a wider international release scheduled for 2017.
