Aganorsa Leaf is going to need a bigger booth at this year’s PCA trade show. That’s where the company will be displaying its JFR Lunatic Belicoso Maduro, a behemoth cigar with a thickness of 100 ring gauge. If colossal cigars aren’t your style, Aganorsa is also introducing New Cuba Superior, a long-filler version of its New Cuba line, which is a mixed-filler, budget brand.

Measuring a whopping 10 inches long by 100 ring gauge, the JFR Lunatic Belicoso Maduro is all Nicaraguan, save for the dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper. The gigantic cigar, which is blended to be medium-to-full in body, will not be sold in traditional boxes but rather in single wooden coffins with a suggested retail price of $39.99 each. Production is limited to 2,500 cigars and the company plans to make this an annual release. This is Aganorsa’s biggest cigar yet.

New Cuba

Rolled in more manageable proportions, New Cuba Superior is covered in an Ecuador Connecticut cover wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler. Though it’s a long-filler cigar, New Cuba Superior will still be an affordable smoke with retail prices ranging between $6.50 to $7.50 each. It comes in the following sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 by 50; Toro, at 6 by 50; and Corona, at 5 1/2 by 44. All sizes ship in boxes of 25.

“Most of our portfolio is too intense for beginners or those who simply prefer a mild smoke,” says Terence Reilly, Aganorsa Leaf's vice president of sales and marketing. “New Cuba Superior was crafted to satisfy this segment of the market.”

New Cuba

The Belicoso Maduro is expected to ship at the end of July, whereas the New Cuba Superior is expected to ship in August. Both brands are made in Nicaragua at the Aganorsa Leaf factory. All Nicaraguan tobaccos used for these releases were grown on farms owned by Aganorsa.
