100 Años Shipping Again

Last month, 1,200 boxes of La Aurora's highly touted 100 Años brand were sent to retailers from Aurora headquarters in the Dominican Republic, ending a four-month drought of shipments.
The hiatus was due mainly to problems with the Dominican corojo wrapper yield, which continues to be an obstacle. "We get 100 pounds of wrapper leaf and maybe 35 pounds is usable," said Jose Blanco, director of sales. "Also contributing to the delays is the aging process."
The next round of shipments will start in late June or early July, and the last, completing the stock of back orders, will be dispatched in October. The current 100 Años consignment will be made up of all four sizes: 200 boxes of coronas, 350 Belicosos, 350 Churchills and 300 Robustos.
