Though it’s best known for luxury suitcases, TUMI recently expanded into the world of golf gear. Last year, the company announced a multiyear partnership with the PGA Tour and LPGA as the official luggage of both organizations. Along with the announcement came a stylish collection of golf bags, club covers, divot tools and other accessories made with high-performance materials.
Included in the mix is a three-finger cigar case crafted from carbon fiber. The composite material is often found in aerospace technologies and professional sporting equipment due to its high strength-to-weight ratio. TUMI’s cigar case is surprisingly lightweight at just 1.6 ounces, but still feels firm in the hand. It’s durable enough to ride in the zippered compartment of your golf bag without your having to worry about accidentally crushing your cigars, yet feathery enough that you might forget it’s even there.
Designed to cradle up to three cigars while you stroll the links, the case measures approximately 6 inches long by 2.9 inches wide and just over an inch thick. The lower portion of the case has three molded slots that can hold cigars up to 60 ring gauge. Cigars with a length around 5 1/2 inches or less fit best, but taller cigars can also be carried safely. The top portion glides smoothly over the lower portion to close, and functions telescopically to accommodate smokes of varying lengths.
Priced at $175, TUMI’s sleek, inky-hued cigar case is emblazoned with the company’s logo in silver and comes with a two-year limited warranty.
While it’s aimed at golfers, the carbon-fiber vessel is useful to cigar connoisseurs both on and off the green. Jetsetters take note: Its compact size makes it ideal for travel in a weekender bag or suitcase without adding substantial weight to your luggage. And when you’re not globetrotting, the case’s slim, contoured shape makes it perfect for slipping into your jacket pocket for a night out on the town.
