ProCigar Elects Ciro Cascella As Its New President
The ProCigar organization, which oversees quality standards among cigar manufacturers in the Dominican Republic, now has a new president—Ciro Cascella, chief executive officer of Tabacalera Fuente. Cascella previously served as ProCigar’s vice president and has replaced Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana, who has been ProCigar’s president since 2024. Cascella was voted in for the 2026–2028 term.
The election and swearing-in ceremony took place last week at the facilities of General Cigar Dominicana, where Cascella was joined by Gomez and other members of ProCigar.
“I feel truly honored by this designation,” Cascella says. “I deeply appreciate the trust placed in me and I commit to continuing to strengthen and elevate this industry that fills us with pride and passion, and that generates a significant impact on the socioeconomic development of our country.”
Cascella showed deference and respect to his predecessor, adding: “Litto has done an exceptional job positioning ProCigar where it stands today. His dedication and vision have strengthened our association and consolidated its global presence.”
During the ceremony, other members of the board of directors were also appointed to their respective positions for the new term: Gomez now serves as vice president; Guillermo León, owner of La Aurora, as second vice president; Hamlet Espinal of Davidoff Cigars, as secretary; and Yuri Guillén of General Cigar, as treasurer.
ProCigar was founded in 1992 by the Dominican Republic’s leading premium cigar manufacturers with the purpose of safeguarding the quality, global reputation and future of the Dominican cigar industry. It represents the country’s most prominent cigar producers and associated companies.
