PCA And FIU Collaborate For Cigar Marketing Masterclass
The story behind many cigar companies is that of a self-made man from decades or centuries past who learned the ropes through gumption and perseverance rather than relying on formal education such as an MBA. Now the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) has teamed up with one of the top hospitality schools in the United States, the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University (FIU), for a luxury marketing masterclass focusing on the premium cigar industry in the modern space.
Taking place November 19 through 21, the course will be led by Josh Habursky, chief executive officer for the PCA, and will feature guest speakers from the cigar, spirits, hospitality, and luxury goods industries. According to a joint press release from PCA and FIU, the curriculum will cover event marketing, celebrity and brand collaborations, marketing regulations for age-restricted products and comparative marketing strategies for luxuries such as cigars, chocolate and wine. A final exam will lead to a certificate of completion.
“This is the first step in what I hope to be a longstanding partnership with the preeminent hospitality school in the world,” said Habursky. “Situated in Miami, a hub of the premium cigar industry, FIU Hospitality is the perfect partner to launch this masterclass, which will feature the best of the premium cigar industry.”
While this year’s course will take place in person in Miami at FIU, Habursky stated that he hopes to eventually expand the program to both online and in-person classes.
